Eric
An Eric is the fastest known method of changing directions as Peppino. Erics can be used to Instaturn, or gain speed via Tasmach.
There are 3 Eric setups, being Popup Erics, Shorthop Erics, and Ceiling Erics. You can also Eric without setup, known as a Setupless Eric.
Popup Erics
Popup Erics can performed by doing a Popup with a Fast Fall multibind. After you popup you will Mach Cancel (you can buffer the opposite direction while you are wall running, which is highly recommended), giving you a 2 Frame window to press a High Jump multibind. If you press it in the correct window then you will Eric. Popup Erics are more commonly used in RTA settings compared to other variants due to requiring little space on a ledge to perform, allowing them to be used in places where Instaturns run out of room. There are some notable failstates to Popup Erics which will be explained.
”Uppercut instead of maintaining Speed.” This is mostly related to pressing Highjump. If you press it too early then you will Uppercut in the opposite direction you are going. If you press it too late then you will Uppercut in the direction you’re already going. If you don’t hold Fast Fall for the correct amount of time the latter can also occur.
”Maintaining Speed but Diving immediately.” This is the result of not letting go of your Fast Fall button fast enough.
Shorthop Erics
Shorthop Erics are performed first by doing a Shorthop. To perform a Shorthop, begin rolling on the ground, and input JUMP. Within 8 Frames of letting go of JUMP, let go of DOWN. Doing so correctly will yield you a Shorthop. As the name implies, it is a very small jump (resulting from 1f of inputted Jump). Once you have shorthopped, press Fast Fall and the opposite direction. Once you have you have a 2 Frame window to press High Jump to successfully Eric. Shorthops can be used RTA to save time over Instaturns or in places where Popup Erics result in you jumping too early.

Ceiling Erics
Ceiling Erics are performed while jumping against a very low ceiling. An example of a ceiling low enough to do a Ceiling Eric is the ceiling of the topping in the room right before Pillar John in Bloodsauce Dungeon. Start by jumping into the ceiling and swapping directions. When you are closest to the ceiling, press your Fast Fall button. Then you have a 2 Frame window to press High Jump. Doing so will result in a successful Ceiling Eric. Ceiling Erics are most commonly used in situations where a destructible block or other obstacles prevents the use of a Shorthop Eric, such as in Tricky Treat or Bloodsauce Dungeon.

Setupless Erics
To perform a Setupless Eric, while DASHing and airborne, Grab or Fast Fall then Mach Cancel the frame you hit the ground. After a frame, High Jump to the opposite direction. See: Tasmach for high timesave Erics. Setupless Erics are extremely difficult to do consistently, so they're usually avoided and/or replaced with Instaturns or other Eric variants. Setupless Erics have no known Buffers.
