Miscellaneous Room Optimizations

As all categories must play the Tutorial the same way, all optimizations apply to all categories de facto.

Fast Metal Block Room

Beginner

In this room, going too fast at the last ledge and trying to dive into the metal block will cause you to hit the wall before the floor, causing you to bonk and fail to break the obstacle.

The highest speed at which you can successfully perform the dive seems to be about 15 speed. You should be able to achieve this speed if you perform a grab slide as you enter the room to start your dash, then stop holding RIGHT after the first jump to stop building speed further.

Note that climbing walls will cause you to go faster regardless of directional inputs, so make sure not to gain too much speed this way.

High Jump

Beginner

At the end of the room, it is possible to do a small mach launch into a high jump, then an uppercut to reach the door.

Expert

It is possible to run up the wall at the end of the room and do a high jump out of a popup instead. However, the popup is inconsistent.

Instaturn

Expert

It is possible to do an instaturn by doing a jump grab into John Pillar. Do note it is recommended you immediately jump afterwards to avoid bumping into the john block walls or otherwise, killing your speed.

On a side note, the Eric strat is similar but saves a mere 1 frame.
