The Vigilante is the Floor 2 boss fight in Pizza Tower.

Boss Behaviour

Vigilante has 2 phases, each with 9 HP. To hurt the boss, you must deal 8 damage with your revolver. Excess damage does not carry over from one health point to the next.

Over the course of the fight Vigilante will cycle between a list of attacks. Which attacks he will cycle through on each HP is a fixed pattern. After performing each attack, Vigilante will slip to either corner of the arena before doing the next attack. Vigilante cannot be shot during this slide.

Each time you hurt Vigilante, he will bounce around the arena, then quickly reposition to one of the two corners of the arena. Vigilante cannot be shot either while bouncing around after taking damage or while moving afterwards, so you must wait until he arrives at either corner before continuing to attack.

Strategy

The ideal strategy for this fight is to trap Vigilante in a infinite loop:

  • Deal 8 damage at the start of the fight.
  • While Vigilante bounces around and slides back into position, prepare a charge shot to deal 6 damage the moment Vigilante becomes vulnerable.
    • If you start holding GRAB just as Vigilante is hurt, the second charge shot after that will fire just as Vigilante becomes vulnerable.
      • This is most consistent if you fire three normal shots after the charge shot. If you fire only two, you run the risk of missing Vigilante with your next charge shot.
    • Alternatively, if you start charging shortly before Vigilante finishes bouncing around, that charge shot will fire just as he becomes vulnerable.
  • As you fire the charge shot, immediately follow up with two small shots to deal the remaining 2 damage.
  • Go back to 2. Rinse and repeat.

If performed optimally, it is possible to damage Vigilante so quickly that he never gets much of a chance to attack you. However, some of Vigilante’s attacks cause him to quickly jump up in the air and cardboard cutouts may drop down and block some of your shots, making it harder to keep up the loop for the whole fight.
