The ladder restart glitch, also known as the ladder glitch, is a phenomenon that allows the player to manipulate Peppino's image_speed variable to skip the level entrance animation. To perform it, simply find a ladder, climb down it a bit, then, without climbing up at all, pause and restart the level. This allows the player to be immediately actionable after restarting.

The ladder restart glitch is extremely easy to perform, but requires the player to spend a significant amount of time finding a ladder every time they wish to perform the glitch (in practice, every time they restart). Because of this, the ladder restart glitch is banned in all IL categories. The glitch sees little to no utility in full game categories.
