Dora

A Dora (also known as a Swarp, Swapdoor, or Title Card Skip) is glitch that allows certain door-related states/animations to be interrupted by the swap animation, leading to bizarre behavior when used in front of door-like objects. To perform a Dora, place yourself in front of an object that is interactable with the UP button, and, while in a mach state, trigger a swap and press UP on the same frame (this can be done easily by binding UP and DOWN to the same key, taunting, and then hitting that key). Doras can be performed in either 1P or 2P Swap mode.

Depending on the object, a Dora will have different effects:

Level Gate

When used in front of a level gate, the game will act as though you have entered the level, but will not actually place you in the level entering state, nor play the title card, nor transport you to the first room of the level. However, the level can be restarted and exited as normal. Restarting the level in this way skips the level's title card. Exiting the level has no notable effects. If another level is entered instead, the player will be loaded into the new level as normal.

If, after a Dora, the level is restarted on the same frame that a new level is entered, the game will behave as if you are in two levels at the same time. This has the effect of copying over any collectibles you obtain in the first level over to the second. Most notably, this includes toppins; in effect, by using a Dora in this way, a level's toppins can be obtained without ever playing the level at all.

Normal Door

When used in front of a normal door, it is possible to exit the door with the same speed you had entering the door, avoiding having your speed reset entirely. Due to the nature of Doras, the player will still move during the door transition; caution should be taken to not bonk on any nearby walls. When using Peppino, climbing on a wall as the transition completes will transfer his vertical wallclimbing speed into horizontal running speed as soon as the new room loads. Taunts can be used to stall long enough to avoid bonking as well.

Taxis and Rockets

When used in front of a taxi or rocket, the following will occur:

  • The player will turn invisible.
  • The player will be able to move around during the cutscene.
  • When the cutscene finishes and the new room is loaded, the player will not be moved to the normal target location, but will instead be kept at the same position they were at in the previous room.

This can be used to effectively "wrong warp" to a more advantageous position in the new room. Such practical applications include warping straight to Pillar John in Deep Dish 9, or warping straight to the toppin at the top of the room in The Pig City's Taxi 5.
